TearLog Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-08-06
1. Description of the Service
TearLog is a private journal for recording the moments you cry. Every entry is visible only to you by default. If you wish, you can share an individual entry with the community — a deliberate, per-entry choice — either anonymously (without your name, avatar or profile) or with your name, and you can switch a shared entry back to "Only me" at any time with one tap. The community has no comments and no likes; there are only three support reactions (I'm with you, Me too, It will pass), and reaction counts are shown only to the entry's owner. Following is one-way; only you can see your follower count.
2. Account
- A valid email address is required to create an account.
- You are responsible for your account's security and the confidentiality of your password.
- You may not use the app if you are under 13.
3. Content and Acceptable Use
- The text you write and the photos, videos and voice notes you upload belong to you.
- Images and videos on shared entries pass through automated screening for illegal or harmful content. Media on entries visible only to you (private) is not screened. This screening does not mean your writing is read; only safety signals are evaluated.
- Do not share content that belongs to someone else, is unlawful, harassing, sexual, discloses personal information, or infringes third-party rights.
- You can report an entry or a user you see in the community and block a user. Blocking works both ways: neither side sees the other's shared entries or profile.
- When an entry is reported, our moderation team sees the text and media of that reported entry only, for review purposes. Entries that have not been reported are never read by our team under any circumstances.
- A shared entry found to break these rules is made visible only to you and cannot be shared again; your account may be warned or suspended. You are notified when content is hidden or removed by automated screening or moderation.
4. Health Notice
TearLog is not a medical product and does not provide diagnosis, treatment or psychological counselling. If you are struggling, please seek support from a professional. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
5. Suspension
If use in breach of these terms is detected, your account may be warned or suspended.
6. Limitation of Liability
- The service is provided "as is"; uninterrupted operation is not guaranteed.
- TearLog may modify its features with prior notice.
7. Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account from inside the app or at [/account/delete](/account/delete). Deletion is immediate and permanent.
8. TearLog Premium (paid subscription)
- Premium is an optional subscription that unlocks extra features (photos, videos and voice notes on entries, a supporter badge). Journaling, triggers, statistics and the calendar stay free. Which features are included is shown on the purchase page; we will not remove a feature you paid for during a paid period without offering an alternative or a refund.
- Prices are shown before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or yearly) at the price shown at the time of purchase until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings → Premium; your access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders; customer service inquiries and returns are handled by Paddle. Paddle's checkout terms apply to your purchase: https://www.paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms
- Refunds and cancellations are described in our [Refund & Cancellation Policy](/refund/en), which forms part of these terms.
- Subscriptions bought in an app store (when available) are billed by the store and are managed and refunded through the store.
